Assist. Prof. Michailova graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Sofia in 1986. Since 2002, she is a chief assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy. She is awarded the following qualifications: 1) a PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Technology for the thesis “Structural-rheological and biopharmaceutical studies of hydrogel matrix tablets containing molsidomine”, and 2) a specialty in “Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy” provided by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University of Sofia. At present, she works as a chief assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy.  She is conducting the courses in “Pharmaceutical Technology” and “Biopharmacy and Pharmacokinetics”.

The scientific and research interests of Assist. Prof. Michailova are focused on several areas of modern pharmaceutical science and practice, such as modified-release dosage forms, multiparticulate drug delivery systems, polymeric nanocomposites, technological and biopharmaceutical studies on new excipients and drugs.

Author of 37 scientific papers and 1 training aid, with 265 citations in the peer reviewed and indexed journals in J. Citation Reports of Clarivate, Scopus of Elsevier, Web of science of Clavirate, Google scholar etc.

Expert in the field of drug products quality control.

Leading scientist and/or participant in 12 scientific projects, funded by the Medical University – Sofia and the Bulgarian Science Fund, Ministry of Education and Science. 

Reviewer of a number of leading international journals, such as Macromolecules, Biomacromolecules, European Polymer Journal, Medical Science Monitor, Pharmacia.

Member of professional organizations and associations: Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union.
