Chief Assis. Prof. Aleksandar Shkondrov, Ph.D., graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Sofia in 2012.

Since 2016 he has been an assistant, and since 2018 he has been a chief assistant professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy.

He defended his doctoral dissertation in pharmacognosy and phytochemistry on “Phytochemical study of species of the genus Astragalus L.”.

He has a specialty in Medicinal Plants and Phytopharmaceuticals, acquired through the Post Graduate Specialisation at Medical University of Sofia.

He currently holds the position of Chief Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmacognosy.

He participates in the training on “Pharmacognosy” for pharmacy students.

The research work and the contributions of Chief Assistant Professor Alexander Shkondrov, PhD, are in the following areas of pharmaceutical science and practice: phytochemistry, analysis of biologically active substances of natural origin, pharmacognosy.

He is the author of 33 publications and one practical workbook, with 270 citations in journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports by Clarivate, Scopus by Elsevier, Web of Science by Clavirate and Google Scholar.

He is an expert in phytochemistry and pharmacognosy.

He is a participant in 18 research projects funded by the Council of Medical Science at Medical University of and the National Research Fund at Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science.

He is a reviewer of many scientific journals reviewed and indexed by Elsevier’s Scopus and Clavirate’s Web of Science.

Also, he is a member of some professional organizations and associations: Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, Bulgarian Scientific Society of Pharmacy, Bulgarian Phytochemical Association, Bulgarian Society of Toxicology, Phytochemical Society of Europe, Association for Medical and Aromatic Plants of Southeast European Countries.
