Assoc. Prof. Zornitsa Mitkova graduated Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University-Sofia in 2005. Since 2016, she started working at the Department “Organization and economics of pharmacy” in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Sofia. In 2015, she defended her Ph.D. thesis “Study of the factors influencing pharmaceutical generic manufacturing”.

Zornitsa Mitkova has a specialty: “Organization and economics of pharmacy and wholesale practice”.

She is conducting practicals and seminars in Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmaceutical care, Quality management in pharmacy, Social pharmacy and pharmaceutical legislation, Medical devices in Bulgarian and English.

The scientific and research work of Zornitsa Mitkova is focused mainly on medicines utilization, pharmacoeconomics and pharmaceutical legislation.

Author and co-author of 34 scientific papers, 3 textbooks, and 61 citations in the peer reviewed and indexed journals in Scopus and Google scholar.

Expert in the field of pharmacoeconomics and pharmaceutical regulation.

Zornitsa Mitkova is a participant in 7 scientific projects, supported by the Medical University of Sofia, Ministry of Education, European Union’s Horizon 2020, COST Action and COST European burden of disease network, supported by the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology).

She is a reviewer for scientific journals such as BMC Diabetology and Metabolic Syndrome, Frontiers in Public Health, Saudi Pharmaceutical Journal, Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International, Value in Health Regional Issues.

She is a member of the expert group participating in international project “Building Bridges, Beating Cancer”, and NCPRMP.

Zornitsa Mitkova is a member of ISPOR Europe, Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, and Bulgarian Association of Pharmacoeconomics.
