Prof. Mariyana Atanasova is a Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University–Sofia. She graduated from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (2004) and obtained her PhD in Quantitative Structure–Activity Relationships (QSAR) of antitumor compounds. Her expertise spans structure- and ligand-based drug design, particularly molecular docking, molecular dynamics, and QSAR modelling. She has applied these methods to diverse targets, including acetylcholinesterase, Abelson tyrosine kinase, amyloid beta peptide, DNase I, and MHC class II alleles linked to immunogenicity, allergenicity, and autoimmune diseases.
Prof. Atanasova is the author of over 60 publications, two textbooks in pharmacokinetics, and has more than 600 citations (h-index 15). She has participated in over 20 national and European research projects, serving as principal investigator on two funded by the Medical Science Council. She is on the Editorial Board of Molecules (MDPI) and a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Pharmaceutical Society.
