Zornitsa Mitkova graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University – Sofia in 2005. In 2015 she defended her PhD thesis in Pharmacoeconomics and Pharmaceutical Regulation on the topic “Study of factors influencing generic medicines manufacturing”. Since 2016 she is a senior assistant professor, since 2021 an associate professor at the Department of Pharmacy Organization and Economics.
She holds a degree in “Organization and Economics of Distribution and Pharmacy Practice” and “Organization and Economics of Pharmaceutical Production”, acquired at MU-Sofia, as well as a master degree in “Health Technology Assessment and Pharmacoeconomics”
She is currently the administrative assistant at the Department of “Organization and Economics of Pharmacy” and a member of the Quality Committee at the Faculty of Pharmacy. She is certified to conduct and participate in audits according to ISO 9001:2015.
Zornitsa Mitkova teaches in practical classes and seminars on pharmacoeconomics, pharmaceutical care, quality management in pharmacy, social pharmacy and pharmaceutical legislation, medical devices.
Her research work and contributions are in the fields of medicines utilization, pharmaceutical legislation and pharmacoeconomics.
She has authored and co-authored 5 textbooks, over 60 publications and 2 monographs, with more than 200 citations in indexed journals in J. Pharm. Citation Reports of Clarivate, Scopus of Elsevier, Web of science of Clavirate, Google scholar.
Zornitsa Mitkova is participant in 4 national scientific projects and 6 international scientific projects funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020, COST Action CA19132 “ENABLE” and COST Action CA18218 “European burden of disease network”, supported by the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology)
She is reviewer for scientific journals published by Frontiers and MDPI academic publishers, Value in Health.
Member of ISPOR, Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, BACP and President of the Bulgarian Association of Pharmacoeconomics from 2024 to present.
She is an external expert at the NCPRMP and participates in working groups with main focus on pharmacoeconomic analysis and pharmaceutical legislation.
