Assoc. prof. Borislav Tzankov graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University – Sofia in 2010. In 2011, after winning a competition, he was enrolled as a full-time doctoral student at the Department of “Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy”. In 2014, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on Technology of Dosage Forms and Biopharmacy on the theme “Dosage Forms with Regulated Drug Release”. The same year he won a competition and was appointed chief assistant at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy. Assoc. prof. Tzankov has a postgraduate degree in Drug Technology and Biopharmaceutics, acquired at the Medical University of Sofia.
He currently holds the academic position of Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy.
Participates in the training on “Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy”. Member of accreditation commissions under NEAA, member of scientific juries and an expert in the field of pharmaceutical technology. Member of the Academic Council of MU-Sofia and the SEMQE Commission. Scientific supervisor of doctoral students and graduates.
The research work and the contributions of Assoc. prof. Borislav Tzankov is in the following areas of pharmaceutical science and practice: development of inorganic, polymer and hybrid nanosystems for regulated drug release and biopharmaceutical control.
He is the author of over 40 scientific publications, textbooks and monographs with over 270 citations in indexed journals in J. Citation Reports by Clarivate, Scopus by Elsevier, Web of science by Clavirate, Google scholar and others.
Expert in the field of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy.
Participant and /or leader of over 10 research projects funded by the EU, MES, MU-Sofia, MU-Pleven.
Reviewer for the prestigious scientific journals Acta Biomaterialia, Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology, Journal of Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers and Materials and others.
Member of the Hungarian Association of Pharmaceutical Technology.
