Prof. Dr. Denitsa Momekova graduated Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Sofia in 2001. In November 2001 she was appointed as assistant professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics where she consequently became head assistant professor (2008 – 2013), associate professor (2013 -2017), and, since April 2017 professor at the same Department. She defended her doctoral dissertation on topic “Steric stabilization of liposomes by polyoxyethylene-based copolymers bearing lipid-mimetic units“ in professional field 7.3 Pharmacy and doctoral program “Pharmaceutical technology and biopharmaceutics”. She has specialties in “Pharmaceutical technology and Biopharmaceutics” and “Clinical Pharmacy” acquired at the Medical University of Sofia.
She teaches pharmacy students in the disciplines “Pharmaceutical technology and Biopharmaceutics “ parts I and II; „Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics“ and „Technology of cosmetic products“.
Scientific researches and contributions of Prof. Denitsa Momekova are in the field of: · Pharmaceutical Technology; · Design and characterization of nanosized carriers for targeted delivery of drugs and therapeutic genes: liposomes, niosomes, polymer micelles and macrocyclic cavitands; · Desing and characterization of hybrid stimulus-sensitive drug dosage forms.
Prof. Momekova is an expert in the field of pharmaceutical nanotechnologies, targeted drug delivery and design of multifunctional stimulus-sensitive nanosized drug delivery platforms.
Prof. Denitsa Momekova is the author of a large number of publications in scientific journals of high impact factor in the field of pharmaceutical science, textbooks and book chapters. Citations of her works are in indexed journals in J. Citation Reports of Clarivate, Scopus of Elsevier etc.
