Assoc. Prof. Iva Valkova holds a PhD in Theoretical Chemistry (MU – Sofia, 2015), postgraduate specialization in Clinical Pharmacy and since 2025 is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy. She is involved in teaching the course “Physicochemical and Colloidal Chemistry” and contributes to the the module “Pharmacokinetics and Biopharmacy and Their Application in Optimizing Drug Therapy” of the postgraduate training program in Clinical Pharmacy.

Her scientific interests are in the field of drug design, applying in silico and experimental technics (ITC, PAMPA) to identify and optimize potential drug candidates. She has authored over 30 scientific articles, cited more than 500 times in Scopus, and has contributed to more than 15 research projects, leading two of them. She is a co-author of two textbooks on pharmacokinetics and diploma theses supervisor of two students. She is a reviewer for both national and international scientific journals.

She is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Pharmaceutical Society, the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union, the Bulgarian Society of Toxicology, EUROTOX, and IUTOX. She is a member of the expert group at the Ministry of Environment and Water.
