Assist. Prof. Miglena Smerikarova, PhD graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University – Sofia in 2016. Since 2018, she has been an assistant at the Department of Chemistry. She has a specialty in ”Analysis of drug products” acquired through post-graduate education at MU-Sofia. Participates in the training in “Analytical Chemistry” and “Analysis of drugs and metabolites in biological media”.

The scientific research work and contributions of Assist. Prof. Miglena Smerikarova, PhD are in the following areas of pharmaceutical and medical science and practice: analysis and control of medicinal substances and dosage forms and analysis of medicinal substances in biological matrices.

For the last 5 years, she has participated in 5 scientific projects, in one of which she is the leader.

 

Research projects:

  1. Topic: “Development of a bioanalytical method for the simultaneous separation of Remdesivir, Dexamethasone and some antidiabetic drugs as part of the combination therapy of Covid-19 and diabetes.” – Medical Science Council; Medical University – Sofia.
  2. Topic: “Development of RP-HPLC methods for the analysis of Dexamethasone and its esters alone and in combination with some medicinal products used in the therapy of Covid-19.” – Medical Science Council; Medical University – Sofia.
  3. Topic: “Development of a bioanalytical HPLC procedure for the determination of statins and amiodarone. Determination of the environmental effect according to the principles of green analytical chemistry.” – Medical Science Council; Medical University – Sofia.
  4. Topic: “Evaluation and neuropharmacological studies of synthetic derivatives of N-benzyl pyrrolidine as monoamine oxidase inhibitors.” – project under the competition “Internal research projects with innovation or knowledge transfer potential – 2024”, within the framework of investment BG-RRP-2.004-0004-C01 “Strategic research and innovation program for the development of the Medical University – Sofia”.
  5. Topic: “Development of a bioanalytical method for the determination of serotonin and some selective inhibitors of its reuptake, as the most common causes of drug-induced serotonin syndrome.” – Medical Science Council; Medical University – Sofia.
