Assoc. Prof. Boryana Nikolova-Mladenova graduated from Faculty of Chemistry at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in 1995.
Since 1996 she has been an assistant, since 2008 – an assistant professor, and since 2018 – an associate professor at the Department of Chemistry.
She defended her doctoral dissertation “Synthesis and characterization of new aroylhydrazones, derivatives of salicylaldehyde benzoylhydrazone with potential biological activity” in the scientific specialty “Bioorganic chemistry, chemistry of natural and physiologically active substances”.
She currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry and is a course leader for first-year students studying in English.
She gives lectures and practical exercises in “General and Inorganic Chemistry”.
The research work and contributions of Assoc. Prof. Boryana Nikolova-Mladenova are in the following areas of pharmaceutical science and practice: Design and synthesis of new organic compounds and metal complexes with potential biological activity; structural characterization of the compounds; in silico and in vitro study of biological activity and establishment of structure-activity dependence.
She is the author of over 30 publications, 5 handbooks, a chapter in a monograph; has over 80 citations in indexed journals in J. Citation Reports by Clarivate, Scopus by Elsevier, Web of science by Clavirate, Google scholar and others.
She is an expert in the field of bioorganic and coordination chemistry.
Participant and/or leader in 9 research projects funded by the Council of Medical Science at MU-Sofia.
She is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Pharmacy.
