Prof. Ivan Dimitrov graduated from the Faculty of Organic Technologies and Engineering Chemistry of the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy – Sofia as a chemical engineer in 1997. In 2001 he started working as an assistant professor at the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University Sofia and successively held positions senior and head assistant professor, associate professor and professor. In 2004 he obtained his PhD degree in physical chemistry with a thesis titled “Kinetics of enzymatic degradation of xylan in technical cellulose”. He is currently a professor at the Department of Chemistry. He teaches Physical and Colloidal Chemistry and Pharmacokinetics for Masters in Pharmacy. The scientific interests of Prof. Ivan Dimitrov are in the field of drug design and bioinformatics. He is the author of 45 publications with over 800 citations (h-index 12), 3 textbooks in Bulgarian and English, numerous reviews of articles and research projects. He is an expert in bioinformatics. Prof. Ivan Dimitrov is a Principal Investigator of research projects funded by the Council of Medical Science at the Medical University of Sofia and participant in research projects funded by Horizon 2020, Research Fund, Science and Education for Smart Growth, National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure, Information and Communication Technologies in Science, Education and Security, Medical Council Science at the Medical University of Sofia. He is reviewer for scientific journals – Pharmacy, Molecules, Pharmaceuticals, Food and Chemical Toxicology, Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, Calculation and Mathematical Methods in Medicine, etc. He is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Pharmacy.
