Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Stavrakov graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Plovdiv in 1999. He was an Assistant Professor from 2000 to 2001 at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Heidelberg, Germany; from 2001 to 2004 at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Freiburg, Germany; and from 2005 to 2009 at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In 2009 he was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University – Sofia. Since 2016 he has been an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry.

He obtained his doctorate at the University of Freiburg, Germany with Prof. Dr. Bernhard Breit on “Atrop-diastereoselective biaryl couplings towards conformationally switchable axial-chiral ligands”.

His research interests focus on Organic Synthesis and Medicinal Chemistry.

He is the author of 39 publications with over 300 citations in indexed journals in Scopus by Elsevier, Web of Science by Clavirate, Google Scholar and others.

Expert in the field of Organic Chemistry.

Participant and/or coordinator of a number of research projects funded by NATO, Bulgarian National Science Fund (BNSF), MU-Sofia, Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical R&D.

Member of the Union of Chemists in Bulgaria.
